Nuake , Foist & Blesort

I love me the word verifications I get when I leave comments on others blogs. Nuake , Foist & Blesort are some of the words I have gotten in the last little while. I can verify those are NOT words.

BTW - I am taken a blog vacay. Going to regroup and balance myself, so that I can be back in full force come fall. Also I must watch Big Brother and lounge at the beach.

On that note, who has time to take the entire summer. Get a life people! (I still love the show, but seriously).

Fruit By the Foot is NOT a Fruit!

Awhile ago I heard on the news? ( ? means I can't remember my source, good thing I do not have to include a bibliography with this post). So I'll sound more confident and let's just say ... I heard on the news that lots of kids don't know the names of the common fruits and vegetables found at the grocery store.

I wasn't at all surprised to hear this , a little sad but not surprised. My kids know the names of the fruits and veggies we eat but since I avoid taking them with me to the grocery store, at all costs, I was certain that they had no idea the names of most fruits and veggies at the store.

So me being such an awesome mother? - again note the questioning tone being used - I decided that I would take my kids to the store and teach them about produce. On top of that awesomeness -sarcasm- I decided we (the fam) needed to try different fruits and veggies.

So here was our first experiment.
Dragon fruit - tasted like lightly sweetened celery, but it is really pretty! So much so that I had to take a pic.
Note this pic was taken at least 2 months ago, so ... I guess I am not that awesome, since I only experimented once. I may restart when I move?

I HEART ... FUN TIMES

Life size Chewy! Jill can make the noises.
If your are gonna make the face I am gonna post it!

Ridin' the train.

Much better Jill, much better.

Our accommodations. Thanks guys! Your house is very welcoming. To quote Jill 'I know that I feel so at home here, because I can poop.'

Carlos Bakery from TLC's 'Cake Boss'. It's the show about the bakers that make cakes ... I think I need to be more specific since half the shows on TLC are about cakes. It's the show about the bakers that make cake and they are not little people, does that clear it up?

Regardless ... the baked goods were soooo good. I got a Canolli(s), chocolate chip cookie(s) and chocolate covered strawberry(ies). I am an animal!

We had tons of fun.

I HEART ... JERSEY CITY

Jill and Kali fighting!

Beautiful shot taken from Jersey City.
Oh yeah! Five Guys. My personal favourite place to eat. No one would go back with me so we were only able to go there once:(

It wasn't the fries, it was the burgers ... SO GOOD! Word on the street, is that they are coming to Calgary?

The stoop, it is sorta Cosby show-esk, don't ya think?

Ahh ... isn't that lovely?

The street we stayed on.

Also on the street we stayed on.

Jill's thinking of getting a job there.

I HEART ...SHOPPING

Gotta come prepared!
Love this store. I got the cutest shoes here - sorry not pic. There are a few in the city, but we went to the SoHo/Tribeca store.
Okay, this is the most awesome store EVER! I actually didn't buy anything, but I would move to NYC just for this store.
And this pic doesn't even come close to doing this store justice. Ribbons, buttons, crystals, I was in heaven.

Beads, beads and more beads!

I know I know, I go the New York City and I spend almost an entire day at Target. But it was awesome. Sorry Wal-Mart you are just Target's ugly sister. I will drop you so fast it will make your head spin when/if Target comes to Canada.

I feel that this post doesn't really do justice the the sheer volume of shopping we did. I mean it would literally take us an hour to walk 1/2 a block because we had to go into every cute store.

I HEART ... FOOD!

I love me my breakfast food!

I don't heart chocolate milk in the States. Blah, gross! It is not the premixed stuff like at home, they mix it for you with syrup.
Macy's mac n' cheese with broccoli was so good. Like SO good, I know Macy's!

More Mac n' cheese, this entire dish was only $4! And it was awesome because this restaurant was only a couple blocks from where we stayed.

One of the best chicken Caesar salad that I have ever had.
Black & White cookies, my mom was obsessed with them. Not sayin' that was a bad thing, just sayin'.

My fav cupcake with a tall cup of milk. Can't get any better than that!

Mmmmm .... giant cupcake!

Mom, isn't she beautimus?

I sampled MANY different brownies (at least 2 a day) and this one was the best.

Food at the Metropolitan Museum, it wasn't much better than the museum itself. (what can I say I am trashy, not classy)
OH MAN! This was the best thing ever. A pancake wrap, c'mon doesn't the name just say it all. YUM, YUM, YUM love the Brownstone Diner in Jersey City, and the waitress was to die for - all your SNL Jersey stereotypes rolled into one.
There were so many choices at the Brownstone Diner!

I Heart ...

I HEART Jimmy Fallon! We went to see him while we were in NYC. I love love love him! We didn't go to the entire show, just the rehearsal. But in my opinion that is really the way to go. After our NBC tour (which was also fun), we went and got JF tix, stood in line for 10 mins and tah-dah we were front and center with Jimmy.

I also HEART Chinatown ... OH MAN! I don't have any pics because I was to busy in heaven buying all of my purses. I got a 'Coach' bag, 'Chanel' purse, 'Valentino' purse, 'Guess' purse and 2 'Tiffany' necklaces. It was awesome. My sisters were a little nervous and my mom was outright scared. I am glad we only had limited time there or I would have need an entire suitcases for my illegal bags instead of just half a suitcase.

Also I would like to give a big shout out to Christy on her birfday!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

I HEART ...

All the beautiful photography opportunities. I honestly could have spend the entire week on my own (except I would have been too scared to be on my own at night), taking picture in NYC. I know millions and millions of NYC pics have been taken, but I don't care. There is nothing like being there and seeing for yourself and capturing it on film ... uhh ... I mean on a digital memory card. These are a few of my favs! When I say a few I mean a lot , enjoy!

Little fairy in Central Park. We gave her money she gave us gold glitter.

One of my favs. A drinking fountain in Central Park, wouldn't wanna drink out of it, but it makes a nice photo.

Also Central Park.

Wicked, really good!

Classic smoke stacks!

A collage we found in the dumpster right outside where we were staying. I hear you can find amazing things in the trash if you keep your eyes open.
